Start with the patient context once, then layer in labs, imaging, medications, and new findings as the encounter unfolds.

Use AI Like a Running Clinical Copilot During the Visit
Product  Doximity Ask
Level  Intermediate
Time  4 min read
Specialty  All clinicians
One of the most powerful ways to use Doximity Ask is not a single upload. It is a running conversation during or immediately after a patient encounter.
Doximity Ask remembers everything in the current conversation thread. You do not need to re-explain the patient every time you add something new. Establish context once, then layer in information.
This pattern works because Doximity Ask carries forward everything you have shared: the patient demographics from Turn 1, the lab result from Turn 2, the clinical photo from Turn 3. By Turn 4, it has a complete picture and can synthesize across all of it. The quality of the final output reflects the quality of everything that came before.

How It Works

Turn 1  Establish the patient context: age, history, today's visit reason. Paste the nursing note or chief complaint.
Turn 2  Upload or paste the first new piece of information: a lab result, EKG, or medication list. Ask your specific question.
Turn 3  Add more without re-explaining: "She also has this on her left lower leg [upload photo]. Is this consistent with what we discussed?"
Turn 4  Ask Doximity Ask to synthesize: "Based on everything so far, write the A&P for today's note."

Real-World Example: Outpatient Follow-Up, Family Medicine

In this example, the clinician builds up the picture across four turns: demographics and vitals, labs, a physical exam finding, and then a final synthesis request. Each turn adds new information without repeating what came before.
Copy this prompt: Full mid-visit session:
Turn 1 68F follow-up for hypertension and CKD 3b. Here are today's vitals and her current med list. [paste]
Turn 2 Here are today's labs. [upload screenshot] Anything change your thinking?
Turn 3 She also has this on her left lower leg. [upload photo] What is it?
Turn 4 Write the A&P for today's note based on everything.
Doximity Ask produces a complete problem-based A&P incorporating all three problems, the lab finding, and the physical exam observation, in one pass.
KEY  Start a new conversation for each patient. Conversations are cumulative and powerful within a session, but context from one patient can bleed into the next if you do not start fresh.
